Alpaca hikes near Warnemünde: all the way to the beach
Alpaca hikes in Diedrichshagen near Warnemünde lead through the coastal forest to the beach at Wilhelmshöhe – a relaxed experience for nature lovers and families

An alpaca hike near Warnemünde combines fresh sea air, nature and a special encounter with animals. In Diedrichshagen, the roughly two-hour walk with these calm four-legged companions leads all the way to the beach at Wilhelmshöhe. The offer is aimed at holidaymakers, families and anyone who wants to discover the surroundings of Rostock in a relaxed and slightly different way.
The meeting point is the enclosure behind the Strandhafer Aparthotel in the seaside resort of Diedrichshagen, part of Rostock. Before the hike starts, participants have time to get to know the animals in a quiet setting. For children this introduction is especially nice: they are allowed to feed the alpacas and guide them through a small movement course. This builds trust even before the walk begins.
How the hike works
The guided tour is led by occupational therapist Marco Wenzlaff. After the introduction, the group sets off through nature towards the coast. The route to the beach at Wilhelmshöhe combines forest, Baltic Sea air and a pleasantly unhurried pace. This mix is what makes the outing so special.
At the end, participants receive an “alpaca licence” as a keepsake. For children in particular, this is a nice extra that often brings joy long after the trip. Afterwards, everyone returns at an easy pace.
Dates and start times
The group hikes take place regularly:
- Wednesdays at 5:00 pm

If you prefer to walk without a group, you can also book a private alpaca hike for your preferred date, subject to availability.
